FACTS & FIGURES

“For Pon Power, service accessibility, quality, and speed

are important”

Ton Kolster

Service Manager at Pon Power

Pon Power operates two types of locations for servicing customers: service branches and drop points. A drop point is an unmanned operating terminal for the service technicians, often with a limited storage facility. A service branch is a manned location where customers can ask questions and receive a direct service, with a limited parts storage facility.

SERVICE BRANCH NO. 10

After recently opening a ninth service branch in Maasbracht, Pon Power’s service branch in Eemshaven is currently its tenth service location in the Netherlands. A former fire truck shelter is now home to a manned service branch, a development that was foreseen for some time. Ton: “It’s been steadily getting busier in the Eemshaven. We’re seeing an increased variety of ships berthing here. We’re also noting more and more crew tenders coming in for maintenance and fault repairs. Crew tenders are something like a floating taxi service that carry service personnel from their floating hotels at the offshore wind farms to the wind towers. Almost all of them were built at Damen Shipyards and most are equipped with Cat engines.

REDUCE COSTS

With our own service branch in the Eemshaven we’re now able to get to site faster to solve problems or service the equipment, which puts us in a better place to protect the continuity of our customers’ business, and, resultantly, of the customers they serve. And this means lower costs for our customers since we charge travel costs from the nearest service location.”

For the moment, service request are still being processed and technicians instructed via Den Helder. However, our ambition is for those operations to be carried out directly from Eemshaven.

SERVICE BRANCH

IN EEMSHAVEN

“For Pon Power, service accessibility, quality, and speed are important”, explains Ton Kolster, Service Manager at Pon Power. “Due to the increased activity and development in Eemshaven, especially in offshore wind energy, we’ve recently opened a service branch there. It allows us to respond faster, reduce the cost of commuting, and to assist our customers via a regular contact person.”
