COOLING WATER ANALYSIS

now on two levels

The cooling water analysis of Pon Power results in a better performance of your Cat engine and prolongs its lifespan.

Temperatures in combustion engines can reach a fantastic 2000°C, which is why cooling water is used to cool down cylinders, lubricant and cooling air. A cooling water analysis provides an insight into the workings of the cooling system. This enables us to detect problems and prevent engines from stalling at an early stage.

From now on, you can choose from two levels.

Cooling water analysis level 1

We look at the levels of erosion, corrosion and potential system problems, for instance.

Cooling water analysis level 2

In addition to level 1, we provide information about possible additives detected in the case of extended life and conventional coolants.

50 years of Pon Power
& Damen

let the good times roll

We are now 50 years since Pon Power and Damen Shipyards started their close relationship.

Because we didn’t want to let this special anniversary go by unnoticed, Pon Power presented its valued partner with an original gift. The shipbuilder will have the disposal of fifty swap bikes for a whole year.

The bikes - in special yellow and blue Caterpillar/Damen colours - will be distributed across the various Damen locations in the Netherlands. Every employee who wants to travel across the yard can now use a perfectly maintained swap bike.

The swap bike idea (Swapfiets) was conceived by a group of maritime students in Delft in 2013. Their idea was to have a bike that always works, for a fixed monthly amount. If it doesn’t work, it’s swapped. In 2018, Pon took a majority interest in Swapfiets. There are now more than 100,000 Swapfiets bikes on the road and fifty of them are custom-made and in use at Damen.

The collaboration started in 1969, when Kommer Damen contacted Caterpillar (Geveke in those days) for the supply of standard engines to build ships from stock. The engines were paid for once he had found a customer for the ship, a unique concept in those days. We are now fifty years and about 11,500 engines and generator sets down the line. It is a close partnership that is based on mutual trust and personal commitment.

MOVE

How will we be getting across the city in the future?

What is a smart cycle lane? What about shared transport? And will tomorrow’s cars be able to fly? Move Mobility Experience challenges visitors of all ages to think about these types of questions.

Move is the first and the only experience in the Netherlands to fully focus on mobility. On land, sea and in the air. Of goods and people. Specially developed interactive games take young and old through the past, present and future.

Not only offers Move the first electric shared car to view and drive - the so-called WitKar - but also that of today and tomorrow. The bike simulator allows two persons to race against the clock. And, of course, you can play the Power to the Future game of Pon Power and Pon Equipment, challenging you to build the most sustainable Caterpillar projects.

The first employees went back to work in buildings 3 and 4 in October 2019 and the other buildings will be ready for use just before the summer.

So, what’s been done? Too much to mention! Striking feats include the completely revamped entrance and reception area, the relocation of the corporate restaurant to the main building and a more logical layout of the buildings by keeping departments that work together on a daily basis close to each other.

HEAD OFFICE

nearly finished

It was quite a job but after a year of stripping, demolishing, refurbishing, painting, decorating and relocating, the end of the major refurbishment of Pon Power/Topec head office is in sight.

Refurbishment of Pon Power

Of course, the refurbished buildings are future-ready. For instance, we have created both permanent and flexible work areas and the buildings comply with the strictest modern standards of ergonomics, acoustics and climate control. Apart from its interior, the building's exterior is also getting an upgrade; visitors can recognise the Caterpillar yellow and Topec blue from miles away. Want to have a look in our refurbished head office? We’re happy to show you around.
